Happy 11th Anniversary!
Well tomorrow (today? - August 5th) marks 11 years that Russell and I have been together! It's funny b/c neither of us thought we would make it past last year. We almost didn't, we almost killed each other. To maintain wanting a divorce and living in the same household is a remarkable feat that I'm very proud of. I know tons (almost 99%) of couples that could not do what we have done, so yeah I'm going to gloat for a second. Obviously if you've read the blog, you know it was hard....but we did it!
I was in the kitchen tonight with him while he was painstakingly making a pizza. He had invited his bf over for dinner and the bf was outside playing with Chloe. I remarked on how I really didn't think it should be that painstaking to make the dinner that he was and he replied "Well, since I close tomorrow this is your anniversary dinner and I want it to be perfect." Then he turned to me, kissed me squarely on the lips, and told me he loves me. I told him I love him too and always will. I will always contend that despite the outcome, being married to my best friend was a great thing and I'm so happy we're back to a good place where we're truly friends again.
I'm a lucky woman. If you just take a glance at my life, you might think otherwise, but you would be wrong.

I love this post. Having seen you guys at your worst (last summer) and then so much better (in the winter) I'm proud of you guys. Hell I'm proud of both of us. Yes we may be screwed up and dysfunctional but our own brand of that seems to have turned into two very civil divorces for everyone involved. Big hugs!

You certainly did see it at its worst! Hell, I'm surprised you came back in January, but I'm glad you did and I can tell you things are even better now than they were then...so come on September!
ReplyDeleteBig hugs back! I think we've done an excellent job. I think our kids are all well adjusted and things are working out just fine. :)
